About Me
BEHIND THE LENS
Hi, I’m Rich — just a bloke from Cwmbran with a camera, a dry sense of humour, and a mild obsession with birds, bugs, and the moon (yes, it’s still there — I checked). When I’m not wandering the local lanes, I’m probably muttering about how many photos are too many.

I was born in Pontypool and have lived in Cwmbran my whole life. Grew up in Croesyceiliog with my mum Mary, dad John (sadly no longer with us), and my brother Nick. These days, you’ll find me in Greenmeadow, where I live with my wife Emma — who is, without question, the bestest, most amazing woman in the entire universe.
(Editor’s note: this bit was not added under duress at all. Definitely not. Also definitely not written by Emma. Though she may or may not have set up this entire site while I was busy pretending not to care. She’s clever like that.)
Together we have two grown-up kids, Jordan and Jasmine, who’ve flown the nest — and three dogs. The dogs are Emma’s. I absolutely didn’t want them. And I definitely don’t like them. Not even a little bit. Especially not that fluffy one. (If you see the occasional dog photo on here, mind your business.)
By day, I’m a self-employed draftsman — I draw air conditioning systems for a living. It’s not glamorous, but it pays the bills and keeps the dogs in biscuits. In my spare time, I pick up my camera and head out to see what the world’s up to. Could be a sunset over the boating lake, a moody moonrise, or a swan having a diva moment. Sometimes it’s a beetle. Or a rusty gate. I don’t discriminate.
I’m not trying to be a pro photographer — I just like noticing things and pointing a lens at them. Most of my shots are taken around Cwmbran and nearby spots. Nothing fancy. Just local scenes, nature, and whatever else catches my eye when I’m out and about.
If you like chilled-out photos, dry humour, and the occasional appearance from a reluctant dog dad — welcome aboard.
You’ll mostly find me posting:
- Sunsets 🌅
- The moon (again, still up there) 🌕
- Birds, especially when they’re doing something dramatic 🐦
- Local spots & odd little moments
- Bugs, flowers, and anything else that holds still long enough
- And very occasionally… those dogs 🐶 (but only by accident, obviously)
Thanks for stopping by.
